Yard Maintenance – An Introduction

Summertime is a fabulous time of the year. It’s the time to get outdoors and have a lot of fun. It’s also the time when it seems like there’s always something that needs to be done or worked on. And, jobs such as mowing and weeding need to be carried out on a regular basis.

You especially need to work on your lawn regularly to keep it looking green. If you’ve had a harsh winter, there may be spots that need to be re-sown with grass seed. Using a good fertilizer can help your grass grow healthy and thick. And, weed killers can give your lawn a manicured look.

Wood chips and plastic sheeting can be used in flower beds to eliminate the need to weed. It can also help the soil to retain moisture and reduce watering times. And, your trees, bushes and shrubs will need pruning and trimming.

To protect your decking it should be given a good clean at least once during the. Foliage that are stuck in cracks can remain wetand cause rot and should be removed. A pressure washer is the easiest method to completely clean any dirt that is stuck. If the surface is worn, refinish the deck and add a water resistant coating.

While solar lighting fixtures are virtually maintenance free, they do need to be cleaned. Any solar panels must be wiped off to assist them work at their optimum. And, you should remove the glass globes and throughly clean them to allow the light to shine through more clearly.

With all of the other outside tasks that need to be done, the exterior of your house sometimes gets forgotten. A visual inspection must be done to look for wobbly boards, siding or bricks. The rain will drain behind any damaged places and will quickly cause your foundations to deteriorate so this is important work.

If you have a swimming pool, you know that even though they’re bags of fun, they can be lots of work as well. The pool water should be checked a minimum of once each 7 days and chemicals added if required. And, you need to clean the walls of the pool and check your filter at least once every 30 days.

Keeping your outdoor jobs carried out on a regular schedule can actually save you time in the long run. There’re also numerous ways to eliminate some chores, like installing automatic sprinklers. And, the less work that you have to carry out, the more time you can spend doing your most loved summer activities.
