Welcome to "Morning Hangover" — an excellent way to start your day with the crew at TheFeed…no matter what you’re recovering from. Every morning you’ll hear musings from two of TheFeed’s editors and have the chance to share your thoughts on what’s going on in the gaming world. So buckle up, gear up for some BioWare comic books, and keep reading!
Raymond Padilla: Like millions of other people, I saw Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince last weekend. I enjoyed the movie much more than the book. While the ending was great, too much of book six felt like J.K. Rowling was writing a script for a video game. The whole Horcrux thing felt like it was manufactured for an EA action-adventure title — explore, fight things, get Horcrux, lather, and repeat as needed. The movie avoided that problem through various omissions and additions. To me, it felt more natural than the book did (as a standalone story anyway…as a prologue to book seven, it very effective).
On a side note, my friends’ opinions on book six seem to be tied to their respective ages. Most of my friends over 30 disliked it and most of my friends under 30 enjoyed it. How about you? Let me know what you thought of book six, its movie, and whether it felt like a video game to you.
Patrick Klepek: As you’re reading this, I’m probably rubbing my eyes and doing last minute packing for this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego. I popped the Comic-Con cherry last year when I still wrote for MTV News and, honestly, I can’t wait to go back. Comic-Con is fandom distilled to its purest form and reflects a still-bizarre ritual between the entertainment industry and the people who fuel the buzz behind their products, be it TV, movie or video games. It’s also crowded, sweaty and completely annoying by the last day — which is to say it’s going to be awesome. Who else is going?
TheFeed gang wants your thoughts on gaming, tech, whether bringing Barry Allen back to life was a good idea, and more. Let everyone know what you’re thinking and chat it up with your fellow readers.
