How to pick a cheap beach vacation

by Mark Radcliffe

So you have some time off coming up from work. Do you have any idea what you plan on doing? How would you like to take a vacation on the beach? If you think it’s too expensive to do, you may be surprised on how you can save money and still get the vacation you want. All you need to do is know how to get this done. Listed below are five tips to keep in mind when you are planning your trip.

Have you decided where you want to vacation? After you choose your final beach vacation site, you should do research on the area. First thing you’ll need to know is what has the town got that you want? Second, are the beaches clean? Third, are the beaches routinely patrolled by the police? This is especially important if you live away from the beach you are wanting to visit. If you are taking your family including children, you don’t want to go to a beach that allows nudity or is crime ridden. Do some research!

Many times when people go on vacation, they think about the hotel they are going to stay in. If you want to save a bit of money, try camping out underneath the stars (if weather permits of course). Tents don’t cost a lot of money. You can buy a good used one off tent on the Internet or eBay for $10 or so dollars. It really depends on what you are looking for. Course, if you buy yourself a tent you can also sleep out of the tent, watching the waves crash in or the stars twinkle in the sky. There is a drawback to wanting to do this however. When you are doing your research on the beach, make sure that camping out on the beach is legal to do. You don’t want to be disrupted during your trip with a ticket for loitering or anything like that.

Third, bring your food with you instead of eating out. There is also a possibility that you can’t have a bonfire so be sure to find out whether this is possible before you do the food packing. If a bonfire isn’t allowed, be sure you pack plenty of dry food to eat and snack on.

Fourth, you’ll need something to do besides snorkeling, swimming and playing in the water and on the beach especially if you have children. Make sure to bring some entertainment such as board games. You can bring the handheld games too but try doing some exploring instead. Take a walk on the beach or any woods in the area.

Fifth, make sure to bring the necessary sunscreen lotion for you and your family. If you are going to camp out at the beach for more than a day, you need to protect your skin. Even if it is a cloudy day, you can still get burned.

If you need a place to go for a cheap beach vacation, the state of Florida is a great destination. Florida has many wonderful cities that have beaches including the cities of Miami, Destin, Daytona Beach and Clearwater. Clearwater is located in western Florida on the Gulf of Mexico. The best times to visit the beaches of Clearwater are the fall and summer seasons. There are plenty of things to do but depending on your budget you may want to forgo some of the experiences.

Remember, just because you are going on vacation doesn’t mean you have to spend your life’s savings. It just means you need to be frugal and you can do this by having a cheap beach vacation. You utilize the five tips above and you’ll have more money in your pocket after the vacation is over.
