We all know the economy is slowing and some of us have lost their jobs. We all need to plan ahead to survive these times. Making a plan just takes a little thought. Ask yourself, how can I start to make it on one income?

Stress comes when your income reduces and the expenses increase. With gas and food on the increase and pay remaining the same, we have to think about how to cut corners. There are a lot of people are looking for a way to make quick money.

Lifestyles changes are necessary to make it during these times. Check with church and local charties available for rental assistance and groceriesand money for groceries. Apply for unemployment benefits. Local Dept of Labor offices can give you information on additional benefits available.

Don’t forget unemployment benefits. You have paid into an unemployment benefit through your former job, check to see if you are eliglible for benefits. There are somtimes insurance plans available to help with expenses have you have lost your job. Contact local Dept of Labor offices for information.

Review your expenses and begin to cancel all unnecessary expenses. Lower trips driving your car and going out to dinner. You don’t need cable or trips to the massage parlor or the salon or car wash. You can cut your own grass.

If you need to earn quick money, there are some things you can do. Legitimate home based employment is an option many families consider. It can be hard to find work at home jobs that require no start up and are not scams, but a little research can save you a lot of time, money and effort. There are also companies that offer affiliate programs where you are authorized to sell there products at no cost to startup. Be careful as when something sounds to good to be true, it usually is!

Make a plan for how long you think you will be without a job. Redo your resume and consider what work you could do if you changed careers. Think about who could give you a short term loan if you needed one.

Other ways to cut expenses include bartering and trading. You can find more information on these by searching the web. Starting a home day care, many people are looking for economical ways to care for their children, affiliate programs, there are places where people give away things they no longer need, yard sales, selling things you no longer use or need through auctions or classified ads. Donat forget classified ads can be a source of information on ways to make quick income, sell your items, etc but be careful as there are also people on there to scam you. Remember going to one income requires changes but you can do it!
