Need some headache relief? A headache is something that afflicts each one of us at one time or another. When we get a headache it can disrupt our lives because we are not able to work or function normally. We usually turn to some over-the-counter medicine to help relieve the pain for a little while, knowing it will come back later. Many people though would prefer not to deal with the many side effects that conventional medicines have. The first way to treat a headache naturally is to maintain a proper diet. By following a balanced and wholesome diet, it will allow you to get over a headache much faster and it will also reduce the chance of your developing one in the first place. So, be sure to include foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, milk, yogurt, honey, and nuts in your diet to avoid headaches.

Another way to stop headache pain is by eating grapes. When you feel a headache coming on you can do one of two things. You can either eat a bowl full of grapes at the start of your headache or you can also drink the juice if you prefer. If you choose to drink grape juice, you must squeeze fresh grapes in order for it to help.

One more way to naturally get rid of your headache is by drinking water. Water is the life force that flows through us and keeps us alive. So, it would stand to reason that it also helps to get rid of a headache. It will prevent a headache from coming and gets rid of one already in progress. If you want some extra power to make sure your headache goes away, then add one teaspoon of honey to the water. Studies have shown honey to be an excellent method of headache relief as it will both diminish a headache already in progress, and then get rid of it altogether.

Need another way to naturally rid yourself of a headache? Try a cold compress. Hundreds of people have testified that when they placed a cold compress on their head, their headache soon diminished. If you want to test this out, all you need to do is place some ice into a zip-lock bag. Then take the bag and place it into a towel. Your cold compress is ready to take your headache away.

Sometimes a hot compress works better as a headache cure than a cold compress does. A hot compress works wonders for me but a cold compress works better for my aunt. Each person is built differently so you will have to try both to determine which one works best for your headache. To prepare a hot compress, just take a hand towel, soak it in warm water, heat it up in the microwave for five seconds, and then place on your head. Heating pads do not work in the same way because they lack the moisture that is needed to help relieve the pain.

Finally, you could try just getting some sleep. While this does not provide a permanent solution, it does offer a temporary way to help ease your pain. If you are not able to sleep or if you are not tired enough to sleep, you can always just sit in a dark room. This helps because light usually complicates a headache and makes it worse. So, if you can retreat to a dark room for a while, or if you can get some sleep, it will help to reduce your pain. Many migraine sufferers use this method as a temporary migraine cure.

A headache can stop you in your tracks. If you are working, it can even become impossible for you to remain productive while you are in pain.
