We all bruise, that is fact. While some of you may bruise a lot more than others, it is certainly something that you all do at some time or another. Bruising can be something that occurs more and more as you get older. It can also be something that occurs due to different medical deficiencies and problems. There is absolutely no doubt that bruises are not very attractive to look at, and when people get them they can become desperate to get rid of them as soon as possible. While they normally do not pose any real sort of medical threat, it is more a matter of visual aesthetics that makes people want to get rid of them as soon as they get them. As such, here are a few suggestions to help reduce bruising easily if you are someone who suffers from this problem frequently.
The obvious first tip to prevent bruising is to avoid being in crowded situations. Sometimes people can bump into you in a crowd, or cause you to bump into something; and either type of bump may cause a bruise. There are probably not a lot of activities that require you to have to be in a crowd.
Have you ever participated in sports in school, or as a hobby? Then you already know that bruises can come along with the territory. To reduce the possibility of bruising, wear the appropriate protective gear on the bodily areas that are vulnerable to being hit, and then developing bruises.
It could also be that you are getting bruises because you have some sort of deficiency of vitamin K. A vitamin K deficiency will lead to your blood not clotting properly and proper clotting is absolutely necessary if easy bruising is to be avoided. As such you need to make sure that your diet provides sufficient levels of vitamin K to avoid the tendency for easy bruising.
When you do get a bruise, you’d like to be able to alleviate any possible swelling. You can use a cold compress immediately after the bruise forms, or you might find a poultice made from crushed parsley applied directly to the bruise will help get rid of any pain and swelling.
Are you taking full strength aspirin as a pain remedy, or other blood thinning drugs? If you are, then know that you will likely be more prone to bruising easily. To help prevent bruising easily, don’t take these types of drugs any longer than you need to, or ask your physician if there is an alternative that doesn’t act as much as a blood thinner.
One last thing to do is to use hot and cold compresses alternately, beginning with cold, on a fresh bruise in order to reduce the swelling and reduce the pain as well.
