It is very easy, when you run your own “traditional” (aka “brick and mortar”) business, to fall into the trap of seeing the web as something “extra.” More than likely you just use it for email and not for anything else. Maybe your business even has a simple website. Maybe that’s been working for you. But what if you want to build your business even further? There is an entire market of people who shop primarily through the Internet that you could be reaching. So how do you do this? Here are some Internet Marketing tips that you can use to help build up your offline business.
Shoot a video about your company. This is different to filming and advertisement.
Okay, while there are some differences, it’s not completely dissimilar. The video that you create is not just going to showcase your business; it is going to be about you. You aren’t going to be running this video during the Superbowl on TV. Even the cost should be minimal since you can shoot it with your own camera. You want to put it online on as many video sharing sites as you can think of, like Vimeo and YouTube. Online video has exploded over the last year or so. The goal is for your business to have one so people can watch it and visit your site to discover what you do. Buy some online advertising. It’s not hard to do this if you use the Google Adwords tool. Watch carefully, however, because pay per click advertising can quickly become very expensive. When you want to target this sort of advertising you should work with individual sellers and buy space on individual websites. Not only do you get more control through this, your budget will thank you for it too. You could buy some advertising through websites like Izea, which match publishers and advertisers who need to spread the word about their offers.
Try to get some of your current customers to write reviews about your business online. The reviews can be posted on Yelp or Google – basically on any site people go to search for information on various services and products and the local businesses that offer them. Encourage people to be honest in their reviews. This way you’ll get people who are searching for various things in your local area to come to your company. Keep in mind that internet marketing doesn’t overlook the offline world. It just enhances it a little bit.
Running a successful business takes many things. An open mind is one of these things. Another element is to be as creative as possible. This is why it is important that you accept and embrace the idea of integrating Internet Marketing to help build your traditional business. You will find that the virtual and traditional worlds are drifting closer together on a daily basis. If you ignore the internet you are leaving money on the table by ignoring a huge segment of prospects and that is just bad for business!
