Someone who types in “Kansas City Chiefs apparel” is looking to buy apparel. However, someone who types in football might be looking for the latest college football scores. There isn’t a very good chance that they’re going to buy anything, but they just cost you money by clicking on your ad. It’s obvious which type of person you want clicking on your ad.

Another good tactic is to use multiple campaigns. You can use a separate campaign for every NFL team. You can see which ads to use according to your budget. You will make more sales by using niche or specialized keywords, rather than general ones.

A great place to pick up good keywords is by using your web logs. You can see what keywords visitors have used to come to your site and use these same keywords in your campaigns.
